Value Creation Model | Annual Report 2022

Overview

The interactive value creation model for Bühler Group's Annual Report was developed to visually represent how Bühler creates value across different dimensions: customers, employees, bondholders, business partners, and owners. This project aimed to showcase Bühler’s sustainable business opportunities in the global food, feed, and automotive industries. The model illustrates the balance between humanity, nature, and the economy in Bühler's operations.

The primary objective was to create an engaging, interactive infographic that could communicate complex data in an accessible and visually appealing way. The goal was to enhance user experience, making it easier for stakeholders to understand Bühler's value creation process and its impact on society and the environment.

Background Information

Bühler Group is a global leader in industrial process technologies, with a strong focus on sustainability. The company’s annual report is a critical document that communicates its achievements, strategies, and impact to stakeholders. To improve engagement and understanding, Bühler decided to incorporate an interactive value creation model into the 2022 Annual Report.

Problem Statement

  1. Creating an interactive infographic posed several challenges: The model needed to convey intricate relationships and data points in a simple, understandable manner.
  2. User Engagement: Ensuring the interactive elements were engaging yet easy to navigate.
  3. Technical Implementation: Integrating the interactive model seamlessly into the existing website infrastructure.

Solution

The interactive value creation model was designed using Adobe InDesign, leveraging its powerful layout and design capabilities. The following steps were taken to address the challenges:

  1. Concept Development: Initial brainstorming sessions were conducted to determine the key elements and structure of the value creation model.
  2. Data Collection and Analysis: Comprehensive data from various departments within Bühler was gathered and analyzed to identify the most critical information for inclusion.
  3. Design and Prototyping: Using Adobe InDesign, the initial designs and prototypes were created, focusing on usability and aesthetic appeal.
  4. Interactive Elements: Interactive features such as clickable areas, hover effects, and pop-ups were integrated to provide additional information without cluttering the main visual.
  5. Testing and Refinement: Extensive testing was conducted to ensure all interactive elements worked as intended across different devices and browsers. Feedback from stakeholders was used to refine the final product.

Implementation

  1. Mapping Interactive Triggers: Each interactive trigger was meticulously mapped to ensure every element worked correctly, including clickable regions and hover effects.
  2. Design Consistency: The design was kept consistent with Bühler’s branding to ensure a cohesive visual identity.
  3. In 5 plugin: In 5 plugin from Ajar Productions was used to translate the design and trigger interactions to working web files(HTML, CSS, JS).
  4. Integration: The final interactive model was embedded into the Bühler Group website, ensuring seamless functionality with the existing content.

Results

The interactive value creation model successfully achieved its objectives, resulting in several positive outcomes:

  • Enhanced User Engagement: The interactive elements increased stakeholder engagement, encouraging exploration and a deeper understanding of Bühler’s value creation process.
  • Improved Communication: Complex data was effectively communicated, making it easier for stakeholders to grasp the impact of Bühler’s operations.
  • Positive Feedback: The model received positive feedback from both internal and external stakeholders, highlighting its effectiveness and visual appeal.
