Objective

Create a printable, frameable infographic of the Italian GP that integrates a scale model of the winning car to serve as a unique desk piece for Formula 1 fans.

Background

Formula 1 fans are known for their passion and dedication to the sport. Many fans seek memorabilia and collectibles that allow them to celebrate and display their favorite races and moments. The Italian GP at the Autodromo Nazionale Monza is one of the most iconic races in the F1 calendar, and its high-speed straights and historic corners make it a fan favorite.

The objective was to design an infographic that not only presents essential race details but also serves as a functional and visually appealing desk piece. The infographic would be printed and framed, with a slot to place a scale model of the winning car, creating an interactive and dynamic display.

Research and Insights

To understand the needs and preferences of the target audience, we conducted surveys and interviews with Formula 1 enthusiasts. Key insights included:

Design Process

Conceptualization

  • Brainstormed ideas and sketches for the infographic layout.
  • Ensured the design incorporated key elements: race track map, race statistics, and placeholders for the scale model car.

Wireframing

  • Created wireframes to outline the placement of text, images, and interactive elements.
  • Iterated on wireframes based on feedback from focus groups.

High-Fidelity Design

  • Developed a high-fidelity design using Adobe Creative Suite.
  • Included detailed race information, such as circuit length, race distance, number of laps, and the lap record.
  • Highlighted the top three finishers and their respective times.

Interactive Element

  • Designed a slot within the frame where a scale model car could be placed, aligning it with the race track on the infographic.

Usability Testing

  • Conducted usability testing with F1 fans to ensure the design was intuitive and the interactive element functioned as intended.

  • Top Finishers: Names and times of the top three finishers clearly listed.
  • Interactive Slot: A designated space for placing a scale model of the winning car, creating a dynamic and interactive desk piece..

Implementation

The infographic was printed on high-quality paper and framed. The frame includes a custom-made slot that securely holds the scale model car. Fans can easily insert and remove the car, allowing for interaction and engagement.
